19 Days of august

a Creative Reclamation Challenge

August 1-19, 2025

The world is loud. The to-do list is eternal.

But your creative fire? It still burns. And it needs tending.

Every summer, I would watch August slip through my fingers in a blur of heat, overcommitted calendars, and mostly-empty sunscreen bottles—while my creative spark sputtered on the back burner. Cue me wailing, “Whyyy is summer ending and I made nothing??”

So a few years ago, I decided to change the story.

I made a ritual. A challenge. A promise to myself:

nineteen days of showing up for my creativity—on purpose.

From August 1 to 19, I devote the first hour and fifteen minutes of my day to whatever creative act makes my heart flutter: writing, painting, journaling, or returning to the pile of half-finished arts & crafts projects I keep meaning to finish “later.” (Yes, I’m looking at you, shibori-dyed linen handkerchiefs.)

Honestly? This practice changed my life. Read the story on my blog.

And now? I want to invite you to join me. You in?

🔥 What is 19 Days of August?

A 19-day challenge with daily emails, creative prompts, and cozy morning Zooms to help you show up for your spark.

It’s free, soul-brightening, and runs from August 1 to August 19 (my birthday! 🎂). It’s not about productivity or perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about carving out space—before the world rushes in—to honor your spark.

Think of it like self-directed summer arts camp for adults 😎⛺️🎨

Each morning, you’ll receive in your email inbox:

  • 🃏 An oracle card pull (from my favorite, lovingly shuffled decks)

  • 📩 a juicy creative prompt or reflection

  • 🌀 An optional co-working Zoom session (bring your tea, your journal, your messy desk)

And just before each Zoom session, I’ll go live on Instagram for a quick check-in on topics like:

  • 🥵 creativity + burnout

  • 😵‍💫 showing up when you’re overwhelmed

  • 🙃 the power of play + permission

  • 🧙🏼‍♀️ art-making as spellwork

  • ✨ and whatever else is alive in the room

You can join every day or just dip in when you can. There’s no guilt. No pressure. No right way to do it.

💞 The Zoom Room: Come As You Are

Every morning, 7:30-8:45am PDT, we gather in a cozy co-creation Zoom room. It’s totally optional—but completely magical.

Think of it as your soft landing.

Your daily check-in with a room full of tender-hearted weirdos who get it.

You can show up camera-on, camera-off, in your robe, in your feelings. You can write, doodle, daydream, work on a secret project, or just sip coffee and soak up the vibes.

This space is here for:

  • 🧃 Cheering each other on

  • 🔥 Reclaiming creative time that actually feels good

  • 💬 Knowing you’re not doing this alone

You don’t have to “network” (barf!). You don’t have to perform. Just come as you are, and make something for you.

✨ Why should I join?

  • Because no one else is going to guard your creative time.

  • Because you're tired of telling yourself “I’ll get to it later.”

  • Because that tiny ember of creative joy inside you is still alive.

  • Because everyone deserves a hype squad—and I come with playlists.

🧚 Who are you?

Hi, I’m Sarah from Hawthorn Mountain Tarot! I’ve spent years helping creatives reconnect with their spark—especially the ones who are secretly exhausted, overcommitted, or afraid they’ve lost the magic. You haven’t. It’s still in you. Let me help you fan the flame.

💌 What happens when I sign up?

You’ll get a confirmation email with the Zoom link so you can save it in your calendar, and I’ll send a follow-up email with a couple of gentle prep notes at the end of July so you can get ready (no stress—this challenge is meant to feel good). Then it’s nineteen days of creativity and delight!

🌀 FAQ: Slightly Sassy, Always Supportive

  • No worries at all. Life happens. The challenge is there to serve you—not the other way around. You can pick back up any time. This is about reclaiming joy, not racking up gold stars.

  • No way! They’re totally optional. Think of them as a cozy, loving bonus. If you want to create in quiet community, we’ll be there. If you want to do your own thing solo, that’s beautiful too.

  • Nope. Never. Absolutely not. These sessions are intentionally ephemeral. They’re like morning mist or a match strike—here, then gone. You show up, we make something together, and then it disappears into the day. No playback, no archive, no pressure.

  • Not unless you want to! On Zoom, we’ll take the final 5 minutes to share if we feel called to and gas each other up. Off Zoom, you can keep your process entirely private, or you can tag me @hawthorn_mtn_tarot on IG and use #19DaysofAugust so we can cheer you on.

  • It’s for anyone who wants to reconnect with their creative spark. Maybe that’s drawing. Maybe that’s journaling. Maybe that’s baking cookies while dancing to Tori Amos. It all counts.

  • Gosh, I hope not! You’ll get one short, spark-bright email each morning from August 1–19. That’s it. (Plus a confirmation email and maybe a welcome note in late July with all the details.)

  • Because it’s my birthday on August 19—and this whole project started as a personal ritual to reclaim my creative time. It’s now become one of my favorite gifts to share.

  • YES. Please do! Creativity is better with company. If you have someone who might love this, send them this link:
